seems like folks here can do with some better lights.

better loosely defined as, smaller, lighter, brighter, more energy efffecient, more robust but more expensive. need any recommendations? 😛

      here’s some links for starters.
http://www.candlepowerforums.com/vb/index.php? <-- very up-to-date rants, advance in local terms
http://www.flashlightreviews.com/ <-- not the most updated but still relevant today i’ll leave out individual brand links.

        Yes. thanks for your contribution.

In fact, we are using torches which are higher power than what you can find in the market right now if comparing with the same range of torches.

I’m sure those torches you recommended don’t come cheap like Fenix and such brands.

for illuminating longer distance my fav light http://www.pelican.com/lights_detail.php?recordID=2330 with a brighter after market drop-in bulb & slightly more battery runtime. costs about $160 total. its with me since 2003! http://www.surefire.com/maxexp/main/co_disp/displ/prrfnbr/24459/sesent/00 would rival my current set-up with an hour more runtime, at similiar prices.

cheapest alternative would be http://www.streamlight.com/product/product.aspx?pid=139 under $65 with 3.5hrs runtime on a set of alkaline batts. throws as far as the Peli’s 2330 with my after market drop-in bulb!

for flood lighting a headlamp with DIY diffuser http://www.streamlight.com/product/product.aspx?pid=55 special price from dealer, under $120, cant reveal exact price. heh.

dimmer (but very wide) flood http://www.princetontec.com/products/index.php?id=17&type=0&use=1 would do well, with 12hr of light (dun trust website info) on a set of alkaline batts.

different light for different tasks, Fenix are more affordable with most taking AA, AAA batts but most dun ‘throw’ light far enough for me. those lights with reverse click switches, must fully press ‘on’ before it can be used for strobing, slower response time. i have the T1, that’s my brightest light at the moment.

well, good to know that u peps have the light reqiurements covered.
