Why did I chose the avatar abductboy?

How My Abductboy Avatar Came About

I had been having weird… you might called it paranormal experiences ever since I was a kid. You name it, I have it. I had dreams that came true, out of body experiences, visions of future, see ‘ghosts’ or alien (those big eyed type) which I thought to be a skeleton, hear voices when there is no one around.. Had bouts of telepathy…. you know what I mean.

When I was about 26 years old, I picked up a book titled Communion, published in 1987 about people being abducted by aliens. I was intrigued by the photo in the front cover. Though I couldn’t say why.

Later on when I started to ready other books of western alien abduction, I found myself being able to relate when I went through when I was younger, to what was written in the book. It was like nothing I ever read in a Asian book or seen from an Asian perspective.

I knew what I want my email address to be.

“abductedboy”, I said, ‘Give me abductedboy.” My brother tried but shook his head after a couple of seconds. “It’s taken.” He said. “Try another.”

I tried abductboy. It was available. And thus was birthed my first email address abductboy@yahoo.com . . . . . . . . . (text taken from API casefile, the Mystery of the Hillview House)

Last year when the Monkey Tree was making waves in the Singapore scence, I was interviewed by a Reporter from a Malaysia Entertainment Newspaper called New Life Post.

And here is the continuation of my story…. (I welcome a chinese translation.. 🙂 )

The Paranormal Investigator
surrounded by paranormal entities from young

In the comics, detective Conan has cracked numerous cases, and is a popular and well loved little detective. Without him, those tough cases seem impossible to crack.

In reality, there is actually someone, with the Conan spirit, and he is actually in ultra modern financial urban city Singapore, using Science to investigate paranormal matters.

He likes to investigate the paranormal using a rational and objective scientific approach.

As a construction safety manager, Charles Goh is truly a paranormal investigator, as a founder of Asia Paranormal Investigators, he has successfully made himself a superbrand in the Lion City.

Since its founding in 2005, the society has now more than 500 members, including professionals like psychologists, university professors etc.

This non profit society is slowly entrenching itself into Singapore. Whenever Singaporean encounter any paranormal encounter, they would approach this society for help. This investigative society also cross the border to Malaysia for investigation in some cases also.

One of the most satisfying things is that any mystery passed to API would eventually be solved by Charles!

Using science to solve

Charles Goh emphasize that they do not encourage superstition. They have already solved many paranormal cases using a scientific approach. Of course there are some things that science cannot explain, for example those things that happen to him.

Charles Goh illustrate a recent case whereby they use scientific and a rational mind to solve the case. There was a flat owner who complained that money in the house was always missing, and the maid in the house seem to be possessed and keep mumbling to herself in the house.

After API’s investigation, they found out that the maid is a main suspect in the case and may be faking a ghost story to put forth the tale that the money was stolen by a ghost.

An English educated Charles find some difficulty in speaking Chinese, but still he take great care to emphasize the wide ranging paranormal topics.

First would be those ghosts and spirits that we are familiar of, then there are those unsolved mysteries like Johor Bigfoot, which API also researches in.

One question is whether Asia Paranormal Investigators is founded because of the interest of a group of members, or because there are a lot of paranormal mysteries around us?

Charles did not give a direct answer but said that other countries esp the West have such kind of paranormal groups and some of these groups are well developed and have started investigation much earlier than API.

“We usually receive SOS phone calls saying that their house has paranormal activities, and the team will then set off for investigation.

As for Charles himself, he has some paranormal experiences when he was young.

“When I was young, whenever I look at the ceiling, I would feel my body sinking down”

“Also at that time, I stayed at the 6th level, and I used to hear alarms ringing outside my door. Sometimes I can see blue and red lights outside the window.

At that time when I was young, I did not understand, but now I think that there shouldn’t be any alarms outside my corridor!”

Also a young Charles at the age of 13, once noted that there was smoke outside the window, and there seem to be a skeletal head floating outside the window. At that time, he was thinking that it might be an alien or a ghost.

At that time, Charles think that all these paranormal experiences are normal, but only when he reaches the age of 26 did he realize what he saw and hear when he was young are anything but normal.
