CONCRETE PROOF?: The JWPA has released this photo, which it claimed showed the authentic footprints of Bigfoot, to The Star recently.

JOHOR BARU: The Johor Wildlife Protection Association (JWPA) has released photos of what it claims to be footprints of Bigfoot to clarify its involvement in the recent “photo” fiasco.

On Aug 4, local Bigfoot discussion website http://www.johorhominid.org had released a photo of what it claimed was the actual photo of a female Bigfoot’s eyes, adding that it had obtained JWPA’s permission to use it.

The website claimed that the photo of a creature with bulging bloodshot eyes “is a big breakthrough”, but when a visitor posted a link to the full-head shot of the creature, the website closed an hour later, with a notice stating that it was down for maintenance.

The next day, its founders Vincent Chow and Sean Ang said the website had been closed permanently and announced that they had exposed the photograph as a hoax through their website.

It was revealed that the photo was from L’Odyssee de l’espece (A Species Odyssey), which is the companion book for the television documentary of the same name, first released in French in 2001.

“The photo was given to us by a man named Michael Yap. He is currently in Australia and voluntarily gave us the photo before he left.

“He did not say where he got it or what it was but it did look very similar to our sightings. The authenticity of the photo was never confirmed,” said Wee Pao Chin, a committee member of the JWPA.

On Thursday, Wee said the association was currently in the midst of trying to get in touch with Yap to find out how he obtained the photograph.

Wee said the association had real photographs of Bigfoot – taken by its members – and which would be released in a book to be published soon.

Wee then released what he claimed were the “real photographs stamped and acknowledged by the association” to The Star.

The photos, which he claimed showed the authentic footprints of Bigfoot, were taken by a person named Kong Oi Peng.

Wee said the footprints were spotted near Sungai Lenggo at the foot of Gunung Sumalayang in Kahang, Kluang.

Charles remarks: That is a Bear print. I already show it to be so here. Most likely a Sunbear. Until the Johor Wildlife Protection Society gets some forest savy men into their group, they shouldn’t keep declaring things as ‘evidence’ until proven to be so. Haven’t they learn from the photographs?

Unfortunately these footprints are endorsed by the JWFA and published in the Johor Bigfoot book as the strongest piece of photographic evidence.

        Here are the 2 pictures.

They are taken by Kang Wei Ping, an ardent Bigfoot hunter and JWFA staunch member. He himself has not seen Bigfoot personally..

But in 1992 he went to a logger friend hut. He met an old man and 2 or 3 workers.

The old man told him that there was a big and a small bigfoot who used to come to the hut to eat food. Most of the cooked food in the hut were eaten by them. Once they took an entire bunch of bananas. The oldman has met this couple 2 times.

This time the old man informed Kang that the couple has just came to the hut, eaten their fill and left. And surprisingly to Kang, this time they leave behind a series of clean footprints. Kang then took a few film shots of the footprints which bear serial numbers.

The old man informed Kang that the big foot is about 1.5 metres tall and the smaller one slightly smaller. Their footprints were similar in size and shape to human footprints.

The footprints also slightly differ from human footprints, as they were broad in front and slightly tapering towards the end, like a triangle. Some of the footprints were elongated, perhaps they were in a rush and produce a sliding effect on the soft soil.

These series of footprints also shown more indentation on the left side, perhaps when it was walking, it was also sketching its hand to hold something, therefore causing its weight to lean to one side.

Tay Ching Hua secretary of JWFA mentioned that a Korean broadcasting company wanted to purchase the photograph for 170,000 RM, but they did not reply. Later the offer was raised to 1.5 million RM, still the society decided not to sell as it was a non profit society

          1.5 metre?

But that…. that doesn’t that kinda make it either a Orang Utan or a Sunbear? Not a Bigfoot??

My guess is sunbear, rather than bigfoot’s.
