Family holds wedding for dead couple
IT had everything a Chinese wedding was supposed to have. But the “wedding that was held at a temple in Batu Enam, Segamat, recently was for two people who were both dead.
Sin Chew Daily reported that a “wedding was organised for the couple who told their families in dreams that they wanted to get married.
The paper said the bridegroom’s family consulted a medium before deciding to hold the “wedding.â€?
During the wedding, a dance troupe performed and a Proton Waja was presented as the “wedding car.
The “wedding was attended by the bridegroom’s family members and some Malay and Indian friends.
However, the bride’s family members did not attend the ceremony, which started at 9pm with six female singers performing wedding and contemporary pop songs.
Later, the best man, who was holding a chicken that represented the “bridegroom, and a medium dressed in a wedding gown prayed to Tnee Kong (Jade Emperor).
The family members and the “couple then proposed a toast to their relatives and friends before the ceremony ended at 11pm.
Meanwhile, Nanyang Siang Pau reported that Li Si Si, a 19-year-old Vietnamese national, was reported missing after she had an argument with her 33-year-old fiance Li Qi Li.
Qi Li said he was sleeping in their room when Si Si left, taking along her passport and identity card.
He said he went out to look for her about 10 minutes later but could not find her.
Qi Li, who lodged a report at the Skudai police station, said Si Si did not have any friends in Malaysia and that he suspected she might have been kidnapped.
He urged the public to call him at 016-728 7934 if they had any information about the whereabouts of his fiancee.
