Today I let my 11 year old daughter view the picture and say that we have concluded the girl was part of an MRT poster.
She mention 2 questions that I am unable to answer as I am not an advertising/photographic specialist:
1) Why the girl look unhappy?
2) Why is there reflection of light in her glasses when it is a poster?
I am unable to answer her, any photographic/advertising specialist here can comment on why such a “unhappy” looking girl was chosen and the “poor” photo with the reflection in the spectacles was used? What message do you think the advert was trying to protray?
The word seems to be BURNING/BURNT as was suggested, looking at a paranormal investigator’ point of view, maybe the BURNT message has different meaning? Besides the missing poster, any missing girl out there with this description in Singapore at that time?
I wish i have the answer for your little girl.
The girl seems to be leaning on the bar inside the MRT.
Doesn’t look like a poster to me at all or has it been proven
its a poster?
Hi,
Please review the previous investigation here:
http://www.api.sg/cases/c05_s002a.htm
I look forward to your comments for my daughter.
She is still awaiting and thinks that it is a real ghost!
d gal looking unhappy could b intended purpose of d poster. jus b-cos its a portrait pic doesn’t mean tt person must b smiling.
the reflection could hav been already in d poster. as d pic is not pin sharp, it looks like d reflection is jus as white as d tee (ttz on her), but not whiter or glossier.
i m jus saying wad seems like d most logical explaination. 😉
Your girl sure have meticulous eyes. I’m absolutely dumbfolded at
the tough questions that she shot. One thing for sure, that doesn’t
look like a poster of any sort to me cos my eyes are very sensitive
to advertisments. Never seen any posters that bears similar resemblence.
The girl was “edge out”(“edging” is a term use in Photoshop to mask out
specific areas of your choice when its applied with the Lasso tool)
and there was no sign of any poster’s borders.
Any way of me getting hold of the original photo or a scanned
resolution of it of at least 300dpi? I would love to do abit of
manipulations in Photoshop and study it carefully and see what i
could make out.
Very interesting shot!
Dear Fengshui,
One thing I do wish to find out is when the picture was taken, really.
In terms of advertisements, i would say that it may be possible. because i did make out a stall behind the little girl, although i can’t make out the words at the bottom of the stall. And the girl, i see a vague reflection of one of the standing bars of the mrt against her. the one on the immediate right, next to the girl, is a reflection of the steel bar. if her t-shirt was not white, we would probably see a better reflection of the steel bar.
Any expressions could come out of an advertisement, maybe your little girl is used to adverts of KFC and McDonalds, not really bothered about the adverts of some serious issues.
On paranormal ground, I would not think that the image would happen if previously the spot was not a spot where houses were burnt with people burnt dead. I don’t think this spot had this history. The child’s clothes looked rather modern. The stall too.
Perhaps the search for the advertisement should start again…
Picture was taken in 1999. We cannot trace the advertisement of the girl.
The word at the bottom looks like “Burn” in Chinese. If you say you can see a stall, then it might be some kind of food stall selling BBQ or similar stuff
Did you notice the arrow?
as the photograph was not too clear, given the size and the resolution, i’d need more time to check on it.
i did notice the word “fire” but the right accompanying word is not too clear to me.
is the original photo available in hard copy? if it is, i wish to see the hard copy. or if scanning is possible, do let me have a 600dpi scan.
Looked through the 300dpi photo. Couldn’t spot anything
unusual besides those uncovered by you guys.
Normally, in the MRT, the reflections from the opposite is
visibly clear. Objects like chairs or passengers would be
reflected clearly but in this photo only the bars and hanging
handles could be seen. The chairs were totally casted
out. The MRTgirl and her “enviorment” dorminantly engulfed
the reflection.
If this photo has no film negative to back it up, i would have
thought the possibility of manupilation in photo editing tools.
i thot some actually did research, and it was the ad for myopia or something, and the little girl had binoculars for glasses (which explains why she’s sad?)
erm…juz contributing some info i know of…hope it helps
Okay, was looking quite carefully and saw several things.
Label A: Is the reflection of the lady in front, which shows her reflection right on the glass, and in front of the girl. And by its clarity, it shows that the girl AND the poster that her picture was in is close to the MRT glass window. Okay, still not enough.
Label B: Look carefully at the point where the pole and the girl’s shoulder meets. There is a reflection of the MRT steel bar. If the bar had not been an aluminium bar, it might have been clearer. But since the aluminium bar is just as bright as the t-shirt the girl is wearing, it might seem a bit hard.
What does this imply? It implies that the girl is not in the MRT with the others, otherwise, the steel bar would be BEHIND the girl, and no reflection casts on the spot where she stood. This means, she is part of what is behind the glass window, not within the MRT carriage.
Label C: see the abrupt line, separating the dark poster to the cement wall. If it had been a paranormal activity, there would not be such obvious ‘break’ line. There should be no boundaries.
Label D and E: These are to be compared to those of Label F. I am talking about the light reflections of these items.
Label D is of the stall’s support bars in the poster, dull and non “sparkling” with lighting from the same direction as those of Label E, the goggles (or spectacles?) that the girl was wearing. Both are dull, lack lustre, a result of not just print but also of filtering by a layer of glass, and perhaps a layer of lamination on the poster.
On the other hand, those of Label F are bright, truly glowing and a degree slightly different than those of the poster.
Not sure if this analysis is acceptable to all, but this is just what I can see from the photo.
A guy once told me, valid photos of entities are usually orbs, or misty. Very different from those caused by motion or manipulation. Don’t know how true his words are, but I doubt that he will lie to me about these stuff, because both he and I saw the same things at the same time at different times. I saw them during the day at the corner of my eyes and he saw them during the night while we were sleeping. And after he left… well, I’ve told the story many times, too tired to tell them again. Most important thing is that I’ve no need to see them at this point at least.
i got a Q, is d gal dead? ❓
the general consensus seem to be a poster.
sORe-EyEz, what Q do you have? If it is a poster, there is no question of the girl being dead. If it is not a poster, it is up to us to find out if the girl is dead or not!
It so happen that an MRT account manager came to see me yesterday for billboard advertising in MRT stations. I have taken the chance to ask them about this poster. Let’s wait for their reponse.
the girl’s spects r big n bulky looking wor.. like those last time glasses..
